The Painting of Martel Release Party

The History of the Short:
The Painting of Martel started out as a little submission for the anthology Painted Mayhem to help raise funds for those living and surviving with PTSD, from there the short has climbed from the anthology’s pages and has been revamped. The newly polished and reworked edition of The Painting of Martel is releasing May 1st in honor of my father’s birthday. I briefly explained in a podcast interview with Darkness Dwells that I wanted to explain this release date because it was important. My father lived from the day he came back from serving in Vietnam to the day he passed, April 27th, 2016 with PTSD. I saw the effects of it on his daily life. He was my inspiration in wanting to be active with my writing in whatever way that I could to help. I wanted to help and when the offer came along to submit to Painted Mayhem I jumped at the chance offered to me by author TJ Weeks. Though the story itself does not tackle the topic of PTSD or surviving with it is connected in this way to an anthology that wanted to help those that do.
Thanks to TJ Weeks for taking a chance on me, encouraging me to try my hand at writing short stories, and pushing myself to challenge myself in realms of writing I hadn’t tried at that time. I am now a big fan of writing short stories and have found a special place for them. Like one of my shorts? Give thanks to TJ, if it wasn’t for him there wouldn’t be stories like Human Ouija, Gaze of Destruction, A Farmhouse Haunting, The Painting of Martel or Just Underneath or any future short stories I write out in the world or soon to be in the world for readers to devour.
Celebration:
With all of that said, I would like to invite you to attend the release Facebook party being held April 30th, 2017. The story will be in pre-orders and you will be able to grab it up for yourself before the release day May 1st. Pre-orders will be up for awhile so you’ll have plenty of time to get yourself this anti-hero tale.
When: Sunday, April 30 at 12 PM – 7 PM Central Times
Where: Facebook Event Location
There will be a special additional segment at the end of the event where I, L. Bachman, will discuss future works, do some more giveaways, and do some special previews. I will be doing some swag and autographed swag-giving, I don’t do the swag sending often and taking questions.
