Good-bye Southern Fried Autopsies

Starting 2020, for me, begins with cleaning. I start Spring Cleaning long before it’s ever Spring. I enjoy starting the new year fresh. It’s a reboot of the soul and going into it with a clean slate. This means I clean out a year’s worth of stuff that has cluttered my office, my mind, and my website/social media.

With the closing of the wonderful publishing company Burning Willow Press last year, this left the anthology Southern Fried Autopsies‘ fate in the air. I could’ve moved forward, but I chose not to. I have deleted the Facebook page and the page here on the website. Many copies are out in the world. I was able to collect a copy, and it sits alongside my other work on my shelf.

Last Chance: Southern Fried Autopsies Will Be Gone Forever!

With the closing of Burning Willow Press (Read: Goodnight Sweet Burning Prince) that didn’t just mean I had to find a new home for my work published through them it also meant I had to make some hard choices.

I’m free to continue doing this anthology. I can continue forward, if I wanted with the SFA brand and create new editions. There was even a conversation between myself and Edd Sowder from BWP about what to do about this project. Ultimately, I chose not to move forward with it anymore and lay it to rest.

With books being removed over the weeks, November 1st marked the last day with all the remaining books to be gone from the shelves until they found new homes. Southern Fried Autopsies isn’t one of them as it’s not going to be re-uploaded anywhere. If you see this after the date, it’s stolen/pirated and it should be reported. I, nor anyone from Burning Willow Press, or anyone that was involved in its creation will republish it.

With all of that said. You can grab paperback and digital copies from Amazon, if you have Kindle Unlimited it’s free.

SFA Releases!

Southern Fried Autopsies: An Anthology

Southern Fried…
Not necessarily an odd term if you live in the south or have visited the southern states of the US. In the south, we have monster trucks, lots of fishing, hunting, beaches, humidity, peaches, and a whole slew of stories that happened during the time of Northern Aggression. But what was Southern Fried? What does that really mean? It was once referred to as something, typically some kind of dead animal, that was battered, crispy, deep-fried in oil, and while tasted incredible, was artery clogging and blood pressure rising food. Not anymore.

Now Southern Fried has been attached to a set of autopsies and those files were placed in this incredible collection.
Short stories that will test your knowledge of the southern way of thinking, the southern charm, the hospitality, and the tales all by authors that have ties to the area, or still live here. Southern Fried Autopsies is sure to raise your levels to unsafe highs as you dive right in with both feet to the deep end.

Y’all come right on over, ya hear?

With contributions, stories, and poetry from P Mattern, Mark Slade, Kerry Alan Denney, DS Roland, P. Mattern, Rollin Jewett, L Bachman, SL Kerns, Edd Sowder, Patricia Stover, TJ Weeks, Thomas Vaughn, Cindy Johnson, DC Phillips, Kris Weeks, Olin Wish, John L Davis IV, Donna Owens, Veronica Smith, Mirren Hogan, David Johnson, and James Master.

What’s the SFA Project?

“The goal of this anthology is to shout loud and proud that The South holds some of the best horror writers and authors. What’s unique about this project is that it will not only include a collection of shorts but also hold hand-picked dark poetry! We simply cannot limit an anthology of this nature to just short stories, though those are the main material that will be included.”
