Today a very revealing Dear Indie went up this morning. When I opened myself up to questions for Dear Indie, I opened my arms to more than just writing advice. I welcomed curiosity about myself too. The work, the writer, and everything that happens—or has happened—in between.
Quote from the article:
“What my mother struggled with most was perception. She feared being seen as a bad mother through the lens of my writing. I told her I couldn’t control how people interpreted things, only that I could be honest about my own experience. She didn’t fully understand, at first, how I could live under judgment so openly. I explained that I had been judged for most of my life already, in different forms and from different directions, so it wasn’t new terrain for me.”
